With over 15 years of teaching experience, including more than five years as a specialist one-to-one SEND tutor, I bring a relational, personalised approach to working with young people across a wide range of needs.
My specialist experience lies in supporting young people with SEND to build trusting and meaningful relationships, which I see as the foundation for all learning and progress. I take time to understand each student’s unique strengths, values, and challenges, creating a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive.
I have significant experience working with young people with Autism (ASC), adapting my sessions to meet individual sensory and communication needs, including supporting children with demand avoidance profiles. I have also supported gestalt language processors, verbal dyspraxia and selective mutism, and use a flexible, sensitive approach to help young people feel understood, respected, and empowered to express themselves.
My work often focuses on developing social interaction and friendship skills, using structured play, role-play, and real-life scenarios to build confidence and connection. Alongside this, I have extensive experience teaching social communication and language skills, helping young people navigate the social world in a way that feels manageable and meaningful to them.
At the heart of my teaching is a commitment to boosting confidence and self-esteem. I celebrate each step of progress and foster a growth mindset, helping young people to see themselves as capable, resilient learners. My sessions are thoughtfully designed to be engaging, creative, and enjoyable, with the aim of inspiring a love of learning that can last a lifetime.
Finally, I am passionate about supporting young people to develop their independence—whether that’s through strengthening executive functioning, developing study habits, or practising life skills. I strive to equip each learner not only with academic skills, but with the confidence and tools to take ownership of their own learning journey.
