My counselling training enables me to personalized strategies and interventions and help students develop coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques tailored to their unique needs. This involves providing sensory tools, establishing structured routines, and encouraging avenues for self-expression and introspection. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, and professionals ensures a comprehensive approach to addressing anxiety and nurturing emotional well-being. Central to my philosophy is empowering children to independently utilize anxiety-soothing techniques and supporting them in acquiring the necessary skills so that they overcome obstacles autonomously.

Committed to ongoing professional development, I incorporate the latest educational practices to ensure my teaching remains both effective and inspiring, empowering students to achieve their best in assessments and beyond.
Expert support for students with Dyscalculia
My expertise in supporting students with dyscalculia is grounded in extensive research into how they process numbers and mathematical concepts. I take a highly individualized approach, designing learning experiences that align with my student’s unique way of understanding and retaining numerical information. Through multisensory methods, real-world applications, and targeted strategies, I make maths more accessible, meaningful and intuitive. A key component in each lesson is to focus on reducing maths anxiety by creating a supportive environment where my students feel safe to make mistakes and grow in confidence. Using techniques such as kinaesthetic learning and concrete manipulatives have helped make a positive impact on the lives of my students. Typically, children facing DCD challenges experience anxiety which can affect their stamina, memory, attention and processing in areas such as: maths, reading and writing. Practices such as: activity oriented- approaches, calming techniques, echoing, tactile engagement and by personalising, I ensure that each of my students reaches a deep level of engagement and understanding of the concepts. It is always a pleasure to see the immense growth in self– confidence that children experience after adopting these techniques and the aptitude with which they can then self-advocate and meet their needs more independently.

Typically, children and young people facing attention challenges experience anxiety which can affect their memory and processing in all core areas such as maths, reading and writing. An integral part of my teaching practice involves techniques which eliminate anxiety and help children approach their tasks in manageable ways which help them not only reach their outcomes but find joy and excitement in their learning. By using highly effective practices such as: pattern finding, repetition, rhyming, I ensure that all children reach a deep level of understanding of a particular concept so that they can independently build and extend on a topic or task and gain further autonomy in their learning.

Something Sensational About Me
I love sailing and dinner parties. I have a skippers license but much prefer cooking for the crew than tying knots – I really do enjoy the sea. I also have a professional diploma in interior design because I love to create spaces that people can enjoy.
4 Reviews on “Alexia”
Fantastic! My son James accessed sensational tutors and worked with Alexia. James worked with Alexia for support with his Gcse English language and literature and exam. In December he was predicted grade 2-3 after working hard with the support of Alexia he achieved grade 8. Alexia was very supportive, kind and patient she took the time to get to build a professional rappour with him and always communicated with both myself and my son in his progress and lessons. Giving him the tools and confidence to go into his exams and come out with amazing results. I would highly recommend Alexia and sensational tutors
My son Jonathan has ADHD and is currently in an international school in Spain. We are returning to the UK later this year and he needed to sit 13+ common entrance exams. I approached Sensational Tutors to find a tutor for maths and English. We had a 6 week window before the exams started. Alexia immediately built a rapport with Jonathan and made the lessons interesting and managed to keep Jonathan engaged. Communication with myself was first class. Just today Jonathan received his first offer from a school!
We have had an incredible experience with Alexia from Sensational Tutors. From the very first session, it was clear that she genuinely cares about our daughter’s progress and well-being. She has a fantastic ability to tailor her approach to suit our daughter’s individual needs, making learning both accessible and engaging. Alexia is patient, warm, and highly knowledgeable. She creates a positive, supportive environment that has helped build our daughter’s confidence and willingness to engage with learning. Her structured yet flexible approach ensures that every session is productive while also being fun and encouraging. Since working with Alexia, we have seen a significant boost in our daughter’s self-belief and academic progress. She also provides us with valuable insights and strategies to support learning at home. We highly recommend Alexia and Sensational Tutors to any family looking for dedicated, professional, and truly caring support.
We contacted SENsational Tutors to support our son Charlie (Year 5) with Maths and English and improve his motivation and build his confidence with schoolwork in general. Charlie has been having weekly online Maths and English sessions with Alexia for over 3 months now, and we are delighted with his progress! We weren’t sure how successful tutoring would be, as Charlie was quite reluctant and nervous. Charlie has some additional needs (ASD, PDA); he takes time to bond with and trust people and often struggles with the demands of schoolwork due to lack of motivation and fear of failure. We needn’t have worried – Alexia is incredibly patient and understanding with Charlie and isn’t at all fazed when he is having a bad day or becomes frustrated. Alexia always strives to make her lessons engaging, fun and low pressure and Charlie has really responded to this. Alexia gives us regular feedback on Charlie’s progress, her lesson plans and longer term goals for him and frequently checks in to make sure we’re happy with how things are going and if there’s anything we’d like her to cover. The thought and preparation that goes into Alexia’s lessons is obvious – she’s also very skilled at identifying any knowledge gaps and areas where Charlie needs a bit more support and practice. We have already begun to see improvements in Charlie’s progress and engagement, which is great! We feel fortunate to have found Alexia and will continue Charlie’s sessions with her for as long as he needs support.
